In the coming academic year, Rappahannock Community College hopes to start men’s and women’s sports teams in basketball (Fall 2013) and soccer (Spring 2014). Dean Taylor, RCC’s student activities coordinator, has planned meetings to answer questions, measure student interest, and gauge community support for these teams on June 17 (Room 172, Glenns Campus) and June 18 (Warsaw Campus lecture hall). Both meetings are at noon. Current students and new students who have an interest in either sport are encouraged to attend.
To participate in either sport, current students must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA. New students are required to have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Participants must be enrolled in at least 6 credit-hours’ worth of RCC courses during the semester in which the sport is played. These are the same as the requirements for RCC’s successful and ongoing softball program.
Taylor also asks persons interested in coaching, or in helping to support these programs in other ways, to come to the campus most convenient to them at 1 p.m. on the scheduled meeting dates.
For persons who cannot attend either of these meetings, two more have been scheduled, at the Glenns Campus on July 16, and at Warsaw on July 17. Again, both meetings are at noon. For additional information, please call Dean Taylor at 804-333-6734, or e-mail him at email@example.com.
