With April on the way out, and May finally here, Montross is about to start its monthly First Fridays. At six years running, First Fridays is a celebration of art, craft beer, wine, and music, on the first Friday of the month, running from May to October. Vice Mayor Terry Cosgrove gave an update on the event at last week’s town council meeting. The event got its start roughly six years ago, originally with an art walk on Friday and a concert on Saturday, but eventually both were merged.
The bands selected for May’s First Friday are Blackthorn Shillelagh and DB Bowen, a musician described by Vice Mayor Cosgrove as “the Bob Dylan of the Northern Neck.”
The Greater Montross Partnership for Revitalization, meanwhile, is taking care of craft beer sales, while numerous vendors have their stalls set up. A kids’ area will also be featured this year.
