Saturday Fund Raiser for Local Child Fighting Cancer

Posted on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 7:05 pm

Starting at 9 a.m. on Dec. 8, Rankin’s True Value Hardware, 535 Euclid Ave. in Colonial Beach will host a fund raiser for a Westmoreland County child, Ja-Myreon Brown, who has stage 4 cancer (Neuroblastoma).

Melinda Pierce, whose husband Morris is Asst. Manager of Rankin’s, has organized the fund raiser with Store Manager Lloyd Asprough. They’ll grill up hot dogs and serve them with all the fixins. Hot dogs are a dollar, or a donation.

Funds will go to the Brown family for Ja-Myreon’s healthcare expenses and to keep the family’s van able to make the constant trips to Richmond’s VCU Health System and MCV Hospitals.

The little boy travels there twice a week, and sometimes more often, where his team of doctors help him fight for his life with chemotheraphy.

The event happens Saturday, Dec. 8 until the hot dogs run out. Get there early. Enjoy some lunch and help Ja-Myreon Brown.
