Signs that could help save lives

Posted on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 11:52 am

Every second counts in an emergency, but is your house number posted and visible on a reflective sign so first responders can quickly find your home?

Colonial Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad is currently selling 911 Reflective Address Signs that can easily attach to your mailbox post with screws or zip ties. Signs can be ordered in a vertical or horizontal format.

To place an order, just call Lt. Pat FitzGerald at 804-761-5115 or ask any squad member. Tell them your house number and they’ll make the sign and deliver it to you within a day or two. The numbers are on both sides of the sign and will be clearly visible when approaching your home from either direction at night.

“These signs make a potentially life-saving holiday gift for family members or loved ones,” said Joey Straughan, Rescue Chief for CBVRS. “They help us find you so we can help you in an emergency.”
