The Tri-County Narcotics Task Force began an early morning operation at 4 a.m. on Thursday May 15, in which indictments were obtained as a result of an undercover narcotics investigation. Arrested without incident were:
Corey J. Barker, 21, of Colonial Beach was indicted on one count of distribution of more than ½ ounce of marijuana and released on $2,500 unsecured bond.
Mark A. Carey, 49, of Hague, was indicted on one count of distribution schedule 1 or 2 namely crack cocaine and released on $5,000 unsecured bond.
Johnny L. Smith, 32, of Hague, was indicted on two counts of distribution schedule 1 or 2 namely crack cocaine. Smith was also charged subsequent to arrest for possession of marijuana and released on $5,000 secured bond.
Michael Morgenweck, 35, of Colonial Beach was indicted on two counts of
distribution schedule 1 or 2 namely heroin with no bond.
A juvenile was served a petition for distribution of more than ½ ounce of marijuana.
Shedrick B. Covert, 23, is the second suspect in the armed robbery at the Colonial Beach 7-11 occurring on March 07, 2013. He was given no bond and indicted on one count of armed robbery, one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one count of wearing a mask in public to conceal identity.
The first appearance for the adult arrests is scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2014 in Westmoreland County Circuit Court.
The Tri-County Narcotics Task Force is comprised of Caroline, King George and Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Offices, Virginia State Police and the Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS). Richmond County Sheriff’s Office assisted the morning of the operation.
