The Still Hot to Trot chapter of the Old Peoples’ Riding Club held their annual Colonial Beach Urban Trail Ride on Sunday. A benefit for the Colonial Beach Volunteer Fire Department, the three-hour long ride takes the horses and riders through the town of Colonial Beach including down the boardwalk in town.
As they go up the river and down the bay, as is traditional when you cruise the town, the horses and riders get a wonderful view of the Potomac River and time to enjoy the fall foliage and decorations on homes around town.
Several riders were dressed up for this year’s events as they traipsed around town delighting young and old with the beautiful horses. A highlight of the day was when the trail riders came and passed the town hill allowing for Fall Festival attendees to watch them walk down Washington Avenue on their trip back to their trailers.
The annual event has a Facebook page under Colonial Beach Urban Trail Ride if you are interested in attending next year’s event.
