The W&L Eagles varsity basketball team had three games in four days with a loss in the first two they needed a win to pick up the team’s morale. The Eagles were home against the Essex Trojans on Friday, January 11. The teams were tied (10-10) at the end of the first period and played an almost even second eight minutes with the Trojans up (21-22) at the half. The visitors increased their lead at the end of the third (37-40). Staring at (0-3) for the week the Eagles rallied late to cut the deficit then take the lead off defensive pressure. Steals led to scoring and they were finally ahead. The Trojans did get the ball back with a final shot attempt that clanked off the rim for a (52-49) Eagles victory.
