The Kinsale Foundation’s Western Hoedown auction and dinner at The Backdraft on Saturday night, August 9, 2014 provided a truly transfigurational experience. All told, the evening was a work of art and very uplifting! This major fund-raiser demonstrated how much you care, and we thank you.
Folks were very kind both with pre-bids and also during the evening on items generously given by local businesses, as well as by thoughtful, creative and loving members and friends. After all was said and done, it appears we netted a little over $7,000. This is a much-needed boost toward covering our annual expenses at the Museum.
Because there were so many people working together to make this event so special, everybody got a chance to enjoy it! A special thank you to the saintly crew who packed up and moved the auction items to and from the old Ice Cream Parlor, returning the ones which remain to be picked up. You were totally patient and helpful, exhibiting grace under pressure.
Several factors contributed to the shared pleasure of the evening.
First off, thanks to our hosts! Backdraft proprietors Jay and Annie and their staff carefully arranged the ambience and flow — elegantly, smoothly and plenty of room for everybody. The tables were dressed up real pretty… And yummy, tender, savory meats, flavorful pasta and vegetables accompanied scrumptious desserts on a well-filled buffet.
Did I mention being waited on hand and foot by the wait staff, and the special touches added at the bar to make each personal favorite just right?!
