Montross Brewery’s Wayne Lemons and John Warren (both US Army Desert Storm veterans) and Mark Gurevitz (a USMC Vietnam veteran) have brewed their first batch of Capt Jack Beer, named for Captain Jonathan Edwards, USMC; the first casualty of Operation Desert Storm. The brew will be released at the Veteran’s Day weekend event “The Virginia Salute,” cohosted by the NDSWM at the brewery from Noon to 10 p.m. Half of the proceeds from sales of Captain Jack will be donated to the fund for the Desert Shield Desert Storm Memorial at 23rd and Constitution in DC.

Westmoreland County Triad/SALT (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) meets every fourth Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office (behind the new courthouse in Montross). Triad is a non-profit crime information and prevention partnership between seniors, law enforcement, and local businesses to provide seniors and their care-givers information they need to avoid being victims of crime – scams, burglaries, identification theft, home invasions, elder abuse, and more.
