Colonial Beach Holiday trees

Christmas Tree of Lights at Colonial Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad. Donate $5 per light in memory of or in honor of a loved one. Donations benefit Colonial Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad. November 8

Fish Fry, VFW Post 7167, 73 Washington Ave, Warsaw, 4-7 p.m., take out or eat in. Fish, 2 sides, rolls, drink & dessert.

November 9

Montross Brewery’s Wayne Lemons and John Warren (both US Army Desert Storm veterans) and Mark Gurevitz (a USMC Vietnam veteran) have brewed their first batch of Capt Jack Beer, named for Captain Jonathan Edwards, USMC; the first casualty of Operation Desert Storm. The brew will be released at the Veteran’s Day weekend event “The Virginia Salute,” cohosted by the NDSWM at the brewery from Noon to 10 p.m. Half of the proceeds from sales of Captain Jack will be donated to the fund for the Desert Shield Desert Storm Memorial at 23rd and Constitution in DC.

Potomac Baptist Church, 6099 Nomini Hall Road, Hague will ordain Deacons, Elwood Carey and James Page, and Deaconess’ Juanita Cox, Martha Jean Lee, Cynthia Crest, Sandra Tarlton, Sandra Lewis, Shirley Bea, and Elizabeth Tate at 3 p.m. Please honor them with your presence.

The Community Chorus and The River Ringers hand bell choir Christmas program at 7 p.m. at Warsaw Baptist Church, Main Street, Warsaw. Encore performance Sunday, Dec. 15, 4 p.m. at Tappahannock Memorial United Methodist Church, Earl Street, Tappahannock. No charge, public invited.

December 14

December 15

CONTINUING EVENTS

RCC Friends of the Library bookstore hours are Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Proceeds are returned to the community via the public library, college library, children’s programs and other outreach activities.

Westmoreland County Triad/SALT (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) meets every fourth Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office (behind the new courthouse in Montross). Triad is a non-profit crime information and prevention partnership between seniors, law enforcement, and local businesses to provide seniors and their care-givers information they need to avoid being victims of crime – scams, burglaries, identification theft, home invasions, elder abuse, and more. Meetings are open to all. For additional information call the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office at 804-493-8066.

Westmoreland Ruritan Club, a civic service organization of men and women, meets at 7 p.m. the 2nd Monday of every month at the American Legion Post, 14576 Kings Hwy, Montross. The Ruritan mission is Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service. Join us for fellowship and to help the community.

Westmoreland NAACP meets the second Tuesday of each month at Galilee Baptist Church, Montross at 6:30 pm.
