Westmoreland County Museum and the Inn at Montross are hosting an artists’ reception tomorrow March 28, 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. open to both the students and the community to highlight our local talent. Some of the fun activities include: hula hoops, volleyball, and face painting behind the museum, “Take your kid’s photo with the Easter Bunny” at the Inn at Montross, art creation on Bridget’s Bouquets windows, and Montross Library’s sidewalk chalk art with Alice Reed 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Attendees can also pose with a Northern Neck Chevrolet behind the museum.
Saturday will also be the final day to vote in our first People’s Choice student art show. The art show began in 2011 but this is the first-time the community will cast the deciding vote! Students with the winning work will receive cash prizes: $100 for first, $50 for second, and $25 for third, made possible by the generosity of: Carry-On Trailer, Peoples Community Bank, Eagle’s Catch Antiques, and Murphy’s Seed Service. The People’s Choice ballots can be picked up at the museum or the Inn, and artwork can be viewed at both the original museum and the Wakefield building. Ballots must be turned in tomorrow by 1:30 p.m. The winners will be announced at 2 pm. One ballot per person. Also, after attendees have dropped off their art show ballots, we encourage you to stay around the Inn to enjoy their cookies and milkshakes or light bite from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
This year’s theme is Sites (or Sights) of the Northern Neck. This art show is made possible because of the tireless efforts of the following local teachers: Joan Campbell, Becky Bowen, Cindy Flickinger, and Holly Ransone.
