Westmoreland News receives new editor

Posted on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 10:00 am

Westmoreland News has finally recieved a new editor after almost a year of being vacant.
To reintroduce myself, my name is Cort Olsen, I am 23-years-old and I am from Spotsylvania County.
I have been the editor of the Northern Neck News for the past four months. Prior to leading the Northern Neck News, I attended Virginia Commonwealth University where I majored in multimedia journalism and minored in technical writing.
While I attended VCU, I was the chief editor of the school’s arts and culture magazine Ink. I led Ink for three years and during that time the magazine was one of the top three student magazines in the region, from Delaware to North Carolina, to be considered for Best Student Run Magazine by the Society of Professional Journalists.
In addition to being considered for best student run magazine, Ink’s Spring 2015 issue, the last issue I was in charge of, won Best Cover on a Student Magazine in the nation.
I am eager to bring my experience and knowledge to the Westmoreland News, and as I said for the Northern Neck News, I encourage anyone and everyone to please call, email, or come visit me in person to share any information on any news that the community would like to see in the paper…
