The W&L Eagles varsity football team traveled to the Franklin Broncos for a region A quarter-finals game. The Eagles used turnovers and tough defense to come away from the Armory with a (42-19) win. Neither team could get into the end zone in the first quarter, even though they had a good drive. J J McNeil III intercepted a Broncos pass to end the first quarter. The Eagles L J Kelly Jr went around the left side of the line and 47 yards later; he was in the end zone (7-0) with 7:07 left in the second quarter. The Broncos took the kick-off to the end zone to tie the score (7-7). L J Kelly Jr gathered the home team’s kick-off at the 13-yard line and 70 yards up the field; he was pushed out at the 17-yard line. Craig Mountjoy took a handoff and went 9 yards to give the Eagles a (14-7) lead with 2:48 left in the half. Quarterback Chase Scott called his own number and went up the field for a 47-yard touchdown (22-7) advantage with 58 seconds left. J J McNeill III picked off his second Broncos pass to give his team the ball.
