Washington & Lee’s Moses Oveido finished the highest from the Northern Neck with a third place at 120 pounds. Teammate James Snider (126) took seventh. From Lancaster, Shane Chambers(182) was fifth, Brad Smith (152) and Kai Antonio (195) both took seventh places and Colton Hayden (220) was eighth.
In Region A team competition at Northampton, the home team won with 210.5 points. Following were King William with 182; Lancaster, 168; W&L, 162; Mathews, 156; Northumberland, 110; Franklin, 109; Middlesex, 95; Essex 88; Arcadia, 61; Nandua, 52.5; King and Queen, 39; and Sussex Central with 28 points. Both Lancaster and W&L advanced seven to the state championships, Northumberland sent six and Essex five. Perennial power Grundy took the Group A championship with 143 points. Strasburg was second with 128. The highest team from Region A was Northampton in fifth with 86 points, Lancaster and W&L tied for 22nd with 32 points, Northumberland was 40th with ten points, and Essex was 47th with three points.
