At the recent awards program at Washington District Elementary School, a third grade student, Chase Bowman, was called forward to be recognized for his exceptional assistance of a woman in need. While attending his third grade field trip to the Westmoreland State Park, one of the grandparent chaperones experienced an asthma attack and had to be “rescued” by the park rangers and rescue squad. Chase and his father stayed with the woman in the woods. As Chase also has asthma, he shared his inhaler and offered assistance. As Chase’s father went in search of ranger help, the young man stayed with the woman and kept her calm. When the ranger arrived he stayed by the ladies’ side.
The woman wrote a long note to the schools complimenting Chase and his father on their excellent work in helping her.
WDE third grader, Chase Bowman, is honored at Awards Ceremony.
