The holiday season is a special time of the year to celebrate the musical talents of Westmoreland County Public School students. Lower grade Cople Elementary students were treated to a concert on Thursday, December 20, by the upper grades chorus led by Mrs. Adraine Bibbens. The large group of students dazzled the audience with their loud cheerful singing. Familiar holiday tunes were interspersed with humorous reindeer songs.
Two students were featured in the program. Third grader, Anna Yedinak, sounded like a young Mariah Carey with her clear soprano showcasing the melody. Jaidyn Burnett delighted the crowd with his impeccable turn on the xylophone.
After the student performances a surprise musical treat was in store for the students. Twelve decorated teachers came on stage and presented their version of the “Twelve Days of Christmas.’ Their version varied just a bit to use “my students told me.” The teacher’s had the young audience howling in laughter as they each sang their segment of the song. As usual, Mr. Andy Woodrow, displayed his elfish manner to the delight of the students. Joining Mr. Woodrow were Sarah Maier, Cory Woodrow, Amanda Birdsall, Sarah Jones, Danita Bibbens, Jacquie Carey, Chiffon Wood, Maria Hutt, Morgan King, Tomeka Smith and Anne Evans.
